Keurig K75 Platinum – Is Costco Cheaper?

If you’ve been thinking of going the single brew route, then you’re probably considering getting a Keurig. Costco has the Keurig K75 Platinum but is it cheaper?

Amazon has the Keurig K75 Platinum and it comes with 12 K-Cups and a water filter kit. It is currently priced at $167.24.

Costco’s K75 Platinum comes with 60 K-Cups, a reusable coffee filter and a water filter.

It’s normally priced at $149.99 but there’s currently a $20 instant rebate which reduces the price to $129.99. The discount is valid till 09/01/13.

So, is Costco cheaper? Yes!

At the normal price, Costco is 10% cheaper than Amazon and you get the extra 48 K-Cups and the reusable coffee filter.

With the instant rebate, Costco is 22% cheaper than Amazon and you get the extra 48 K-Cups and the reusable coffee filter.

The extra 48 K-Cups are worth about $24 (assuming 50 cents each) and the reusable coffee filter costs about $9. So, if you count these extras too then Costco is even cheaper.

Don’t forget, the instant rebate ends on 09/01/13.

The Keurig system is really all about convenience. The coffee grounds is contained in the K-Cup and brewed straight into your cup so no grinding coffee beans, no used coffee grounds to deal with, less mess, less cleaning, etc.

But there’s an extra cost for the convenience. You’ll have to buy the K-Cups which at Costco is about 50 cents each. It’s a continuous expense which will add up over time.

Personally, we’re happy with our low tech Moka Pot. It’s inexpensive but makes a great cup of espresso.

Inventory and pricing at your store may/will vary.

P.S. The Keurig K75 Platinum is also available at Target, for $179.99! Have you seen this item elsewhere? At what price?
