We mentioned in a previous post that we ordered the Pacific Northwest Plank Company Cedar Grilling Planks online from Costco.com. Well, we’ve received them (it was shipped out the day after we placed the order and delivered 3 business days later) and wanted to share some photos.
All 10 planks were packed in the box bare without any unnecessary plastic wrapping.
The planks measure 14″ x 7″ and are 3/8″ thick.
They are not super smooth but seemed good enough to us.
There were 2 cards inside the box, one with recipes and the other with instructions on how to use the planks.
We didn’t follow #2 on the instruction card which was to heat the plank 3 minutes before placing the food on the plank. I think you’ll get a deeper flavor if you follow that step, which we’ll try next time.
As you can see from the card, these are All Natural, Untreated Cedar Grilling Planks and are Made in Oregon.
You do have to soak the planks for at least 1.5 hours prior to using.
We used a heavy pot to weigh down the plank.
Since this was our first time grilling on cedar planks, we were a bit conservative and only used medium heat so the planks didn’t get charred as much as we’ve seen in other photos. We bought a whole Wild Copper River Sockeye Salmon from Costco, cut it into steaks and grilled them on the planks. Great dinner 🙂
Anyway, you can still order the planks from Costco.com: Pacific Northwest Plank Company Cedar Grilling Planks
They are normally priced at $29.99 for 10 planks.
But there’s currently a $4 instant rebate which reduces the price to $25.99.

Discount is valid from 05/12/14 to 06/15/14. While supplies last.
