We bought a mattress from Costco online about 2 years ago. Here’s how we did it….
We needed/wanted a new mattress about 2 years ago and we didn’t think we could buy it from Costco because come on, you’ve to be able to “test lie” on it first, right? So initially, we thought we’d get it from Macy’s.
We went to Macy’s and a few other stores, tried many mattresses, and quickly narrowed down our choices – Firm or Extra Firm (definitely not plush), No Pillowtop, Budget $1000 or less for Queen size.
Beyond that, the number of coils, coil density, etc. , we really couldn’t tell the difference.
We found a Sealy Posturepedic we liked at Macy’s and got all the specs for it. Costco did not have a Firm mattress at the store so we looked at Costco online.
They had a Sealy Firm mattress with almost the same specs (maybe the number of coils or coil density was slightly different) BUT the real difference was the price. Costco was $300 cheaper.
After a week or so of going back and forth, we took a leap of faith and ordered it online from Costco. No “test-sleeping” here!
The mattress was delivered without any issues, they even carried it upstairs and removed all the packaging. We didn’t think we could buy a mattress from Costco, much less online, but we did and saved $300 in the process 🙂
If you’re OK with a little bit of uncertainty, buying a mattress from Costco will probably save a few hundred dollars.
