Starbucks Refresher Variety Pack

We happened to walk by this item, Starbucks Refresher Variety Pack, at Costco. We don’t normally look at beverages but this one caught my eye because the packaging said that it’s a “sparkling green coffee energy beverage” and “natural energy from green coffee extract”.
What does that mean? We looked it up at Starbucks’ website and according to them, “Starbucks Refresher beverages are made with real fruit juice and are lightly caffeinated with Green Coffee Extract”.
OK, but what is Green Coffee Extract?
All coffee starts as a green bean. Normally, coffee is harvested and then roasted which turns the coffee beans from green to brown.
Starbucks is using a unique method to extract the caffeine from the coffee beans BEFORE they’re roasted.
That’s pretty interesting.
It’s made with fruit juice from concentrate, has b vitamins and ginseng. There’s 60 calories in a 12 oz can.
The Starbucks Refresher Variety Pack at Costco comes in a 12-pack of 12 oz cans. It consists of:
- 4 Raspberry Pomegranate
- 4 Strawberry Lemonade
- 4 Orange Melon
They’re normally priced at $14.99 but there’s a currently a $3 instant savings.
This reduces the price to $11.99 or about $1/can.
The instant savings is valid from 06/13/13 to 07/07/13.
