Zojirushi Rice Cooker NS-WSC10
There’s a new model of Zojirushi Rice Cooker at Costco. The model number is NS-WSC10.
We purchased the older model NS-WRC10 at Costco a few years ago. It seems this new model removed the sweet rice setting and replaced it “GABA brown rice”.
We had not heard of GABA brown rice before so of course we googled it.
According to Zojirushi “GABA brown rice is not a new variety of brown rice, but a newly discovered way of cooking brown rice to “activate” it and increase natural occurring gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an amino acid in brown rice believed to have health giving properties such as lowering blood pressure, improving kidney function and relieving stress. The brown rice is “activated” by soaking it at 104°F for 2 hours before the actual cooking begins.”
Brown rice normally takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to cook in the Zojirushi so GABA brown rice will take closer to 4 hours. I know it sounds like a lot but it’s really easy with the timer function.
Set it up early in the morning and you’ll have rice when you get home.
