Sake is brewed rice, water and yeast. Cheap sake has lots of distilled alcohol added later in the process. Honjozo Sake has only a very small amount of distilled alcohol added to enhance the flavor.
The rice is highly polished rice (at least 30%) to remove fats and proteins that can affect the flavor.
Tasting notes: Roasted almond and butterscotch scents float from this sake with a uniquely distinctive rice flavor and elegant rich tone. This universal microbrewery sake makes an excellent compliment to any typ e of cuisine. Serve chilled.

We’ve tried sake a few times in Japanese restaurants. Just like wine, it’s quite daunting to know which sake to order and try. We didn’t think Costco carries sake in the store. I guess you never see it until you look for it! Anyway, we may purchase this bottle to try first since it’s cheaper. The other sake option is the Running Springs Junmai Ginjo Sake which is slightly more expensive.
