Kirkland Signature Walkers Premium Shortbread
Another holiday “tradition” at Costco is the Kirkland Signature Walkers Premium Shortbread. It’s available every year during the holiday season.
Walkers is a family-owned and -operated company that was established in 1898 by Joseph Walker. He started the bakery with a loan of £50 and the dream of making the finest shortbread in the world. Don’t you love stories like this?
That first bakery was located in the small Scottish Highland village of Aberlour-on-Spey and it’s still at the same location today.
The Kirkland Signature Walkers Premium Shortbread is baked by the Walkers Shortbread Ltd in Aberlour, Speyside as well, using a traditional recipe handed down through generations of the Walker family.
No artificial colors, flavors, preservatives.
Their website also states that their shortbread is baked with:
– no genetically modified ingredients
– no hydrogenated fats
– no bovine growth hormones or antibiotics are given to the free range grass fed dairy cows that produce the rich, creamy milk that becomes the butter used in our shortbread recipe
– 100% vegetarian; no animal fats are used in Walkers recipes
