Several years ago, Costco started carrying Flax USA’s Organic Golden Flax Seed. We bought a bag to try since we’ve heard such good things about flax seeds and we’ve been purchasing it from Costco ever since.
Recently, we had to buy another bag and realized that Costco is now carrying Bob’s Red Mill Organic Whole Ground Golden Flax Seed.
The only difference I can tell is that Bob’s Red Mill flax seed is perhaps ground coarser than Flax USA’s? Other than that the nutritional benefits are the same.
One serving is 2 tablespoons, which contains:
- 6 g of Fiber
- 4 g of Protein
- 2400 mg of Omega-3
- No Cholesterol
Every morning, we add 2 tablespoons of flax seed in our cereal or oatmeal. It’s that easy! And with that, you’re starting the day with good amounts of fiber, protein, lignans and omega-3 fatty acids.
Flax Seed helps in preventing diseases such as cancer, coronary heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, improve immune function, brain functions such as memory and act as an anti-inflammatory.
So if you haven’t tried it, pick up a bag the next time you’re at Costco!
A large 4 lb (64 oz) bag of Bob’s Red Mill Organic Whole Ground Golden Flax Seed costs only $7.99 at Costco.
This is ~$2/lb or 12.5 cents/oz.
Item number is 9467.
