Costco Special Hours of Operation and Covid-19 Changes (Updated 07/09/20)

07/09/20: Costco has modified some of the Special Operating Hours for Members Ages 60 or Older again:

Costco warehouses are currently open for Special Operating Hours from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday. Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, Costco will maintain current Special Operating Hours until further notice.

These Operating Hours are for those ages 60 and older, and for those with disabilities or who are immunocompromised. Only members who meet this criteria will be able to shop during these hours. Guests will not be admitted. Find a Costco warehouse near you.

Exceptions:

  • Los Angeles, CA: Senior Shopping Hours are from 9 to 10 a.m., daily. Locations include: Los Feliz, Van Nuys, Woodland Hills, Pacoima, and Northridge.
  • Culver City, CA: Senior Shopping Hours are from 8 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Iwilei (Honolulu), HI: Senior Shopping Hours are from 8 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Massachusetts: Senior Shopping Hours are 8:30 – 9:30 a.m., daily.
  • Teterboro, NJ: Senior Shopping Hours are 8 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Brooklyn, NY: Senior Shopping Hours are 8 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Staten Island, NY: Senior Shopping Hours are 8 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Westbury, NY: Senior Shopping Hours are 7 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Product Limitations
Costco has implemented limits on certain items to help ensure more members are able to purchase merchandise they want and need. Our buyers and suppliers are working hard to provide essential, high demand merchandise as well as everyday favorites. (limits on beef, pork and poultry have been removed)

  • U.S. Costco warehouses: Effective Monday, May 4, most U.S. Costco locations and Costco gas stations will return to regular operating hours. For specific hours, check the  Costco warehouse near you.

      • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
      • Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
      • Senior Shopping Hours are 9 to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday.
      • Locations will be closed on Sunday, June 21 for Father’s Day.

      • Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. through 6:30 p.m.

05/20/20: Puerto Rico warehouses will allow no more than one person to enter per membership card (limit in Kentucky removed 05/09/20).

  • Costco has removed the restriction that “U.S. Costco warehouses will allow no more than two people to enter the warehouse with each membership card.”
  • Kentucky and Puerto Rico warehouses will allow no more than one person to enter per membership card.
  • All beef, pork and poultry purchases are temporarily limited to a total of 3 items per member. (no limit on fish)

  • Priority Access for Healthcare Workers and First Responders – Costco is temporarily allowing priority access to our warehouses for Costco members who are healthcare workers and first responders such as police officers, EMTs and firefighters. Healthcare workers and first responders who present a Costco membership card and official identification of their role, will be allowed to move to the front of ANY line to enter the warehouse. Only members who meet this criteria will be allowed priority access.
    • Exceptions: Massachusetts – The Massachusetts Boards of Health have instructed all Massachusetts locations that healthcare workers and first responders are NOT allowed to enter during Senior Shopping Hours. We apologize for the inconvenience. (added 05/09/20)

  • Don’t forget, effective Monday May 4th, 2020, all Costco members and guests must wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition.

04/29/20: U.S. Costco warehouses will allow no more than two people to enter the warehouse with each membership card.
Exceptions: El Paso, TX, Kentucky and Puerto Rico warehouses will allow no more than one person to enter per membership card.

Below are Costco policies that will take effect on Monday, May 4th, 2020:

  1. Return to Regular Operating Hours – Most Costco locations and Costco gas stations in U.S. and Puerto Rico will return to regular operating hours. Check Costco’s website for specific warehouse hours.
  2. Special Operating Hours for Members Ages 60 or Older – Select Costco warehouses are open from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday for members ages 60 and older, and people with disabilities. Only members who meet this criteria will be able to shop during these hours. Guests will not be admitted. The pharmacy will be open, but the Costco Food Court will be closed during these hours. (Check with your local Costco for specific hours.)
  3. Mask is Required – All Costco members and guests must wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition. The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing. Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises.

All other changes previously stated and listed below still apply:

  • Temporary Department Changes – Regulations in some states, territories or cities have limited purchases to only essential items. Items deemed non-essential may be purchased at Costco.com. Adhering to these regulations requires that Costco not sell normally available items or categories at its locations. This could affect warehouses located in: Michigan, Puerto Rico, Texas and Vermont
  • Reusable Shopping Bags – Unless prohibited by local mandates, Costco is allowing members to use their own reusable shopping bags as long as they pack the bags themselves.
  • Priority Access for Healthcare Workers and First Responders – Costco is temporarily allowing priority access to our warehouses for Costco members who are healthcare workers and first responders such as police officers, EMTs and firefighters. Healthcare workers and first responders who present a Costco membership card and official identification of their role, will be allowed to move to the front of ANY line to enter the warehouse.
  • Limits on certain high-demand items – Costco has implemented limits on some items to help ensure more members are able to purchase merchandise they want and need.
  • NOT accepting returns on specific items, including:
    • Toilet paper
    • Bottled water
    • Sanitizing wipes
    • Paper towels
    • Rice
    • Disinfecting spray
  • Reduced Services in some departments –  At some locations, there will be limited or no service at the Hearing Aid department, Costco Optical, the floral department and the jewelry department. Limitations vary by location. Check your local store for more info.
  • Food Court orders are only available for takeout – seating is not available. A limited menu is available.
  • Social Distancing – Costco is following CDC recommendations to minimize risk to our members and our employees. We respectfully ask our members to use social distancing guidelines while shopping in our warehouses by allowing at least 6 feet of space between each person.

 

 

04/21/20: Face Mask Requirements – Some states and/or local jurisdictions require face masks to be worn when in public. Costco will adhere to those requirements.

04/08/20: Costco is allowing Priority Access for Healthcare Workers and First Responders

Healthcare workers and first responders who present a Costco membership card and official identification of their role, will be allowed to move to the front of ANY line to enter the warehouse.”

04/01/20: Costco has added another change to the guest shopping policy:

“Effective Friday April 3, Costco will allow no more than 2 people to enter the warehouse with each membership card. This temporary change is for your safety and the safety of our employees and other members, and to further assist with our social distancing efforts. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.”

Costco has finally published their special hours on their website. We’ve seen it mentioned on various websites but there’s been nothing on Costco’s own website until yesterday.

Please continue to practice social distancing as best as possible while in and around the stores. Each and every one of us can make a difference in this fight against Covid-19! Please stay safe!

Starting Monday, March 30th , 2020:

  • U.S. Costco warehouses will close at 6.30 pm from Monday through Friday
  • Gas stations will close at 7 pm
  • Weekend hours will NOT change
  • Costco Business Centers will continue to operate during normal hours

 

Costco has also implemented Special Operating Hours for Members Ages 60 or Older:

  • On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, U.S. Costco warehouses will open an hour earlier from 8 am to 9am for members ages 60 and older, and for those with physical impairments.
  • Pharmacy WILL be open during this special hour
  • Costco Food Court will NOT be open during this special hour
  • Costco Business Centers will continue to operate during normal hours
