Lagavulin 16-Year Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in the remote Scottish isle of Islay.  This whiskey is from a well-known distillery, established in 1816.

The tasting notes describe this scotch as dark and intense, pungent and potent.

Islay has peat bogs traditionally used for heating homes, and this peat is used to give the whiskey is smokey flavor.

If you’re new to peaty scotch, you may want to add a few drops of water to the glass.

60 minutes had an interesting segment on Islay whisky about a month ago. I think we wouldn’t have noticed this whisky at Costco if we had not watched that episode.
